Dear IFMA Members,

Australia’s national crisis has overwhelmed us as individuals and as a community with concern and heartache. We share in your grief of such widespread and devastating loss.

We are also mindful of the response and recovery efforts that our colleagues are facing now and in the days, weeks and months to come. We want to help.

IFMA has joined the Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA), the Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ) and the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) to support members impacted by the unprecedented bushfires in Australia.

Together with our association partners, IFMA is supporting efforts led by the Australian Red Cross. We encourage our members to donate through this recognized channel.

Red Cross relief centers are currently spread throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. In South Australia, teams are providing support at the Lobethal Recovery Hub and at the Kingscote Relief Centre in Kangaroo Island.

In addition to monetary aid, we ask that members who have first-hand experience with wildfires or other destructive catastrophes post their best practices on IFMA’s Engage platform. Sharing knowledge is part of what makes our community strong, and our fellow members in Australia need the strength of our ideas and advice to help them rebuild.

Finding the right words in times of adversity is often difficult. We hope that our contributions will help the healing process. On behalf of IFMA’s board of directors and staff, we wish those impacted courage and optimism.
