Purpose of position
To assist the Facilities Manager in providing a pro-active, efficient and effective Facilities Management and health, safety and security service for the centre, to ensure that customer satisfaction is maximised and high standards for the centre are set and maintained at all times.
Key Accountabilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for facilities issues within the centre and centre grounds, resolving them quickly and effectively, escalating complex problems as appropriate, in order to ensure the smooth running of the service and maintain a safe and pleasant environment for customers.
  • Monitor fault information and report unresolved issues to the Facilities Manager in order to encourage tenants to carry out their maintenance requirements so protecting McArthurGlen's assets.
  • Liaise regularly with the cleaning contractors, to ensure that cleaning standards are maintained and proactively seek to resolve any staff issues to minimise disruption to the business.
  • Develop and maintain close working relations with the security team to ensure any security issues are escalated and plans actioned to resolve them.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in monitoring risk management and disaster recovery procedures to ensure the continuing safety and protection of the centre and its occupants.
  • When required support the Facilities Manager in identifying any construction issue may raise in the building during the warranty period.
  • Monitor contractors’ work as required by the Facilities Manager, to ensure work is completed to a high standard, on time, and to budget.
  • Implement fire training, and drill practice for the centre, in order to ensure staff are fully conversant with procedures.
  • Ensure staff understand and comply with health and safety and environmental procedures to ensure safety within the centre.
  • Monitor the utilities services at the centre, such as electricity, gas and water, analysing and reporting information for the Facilities Manager to ensure quality of service, cost-optimisation and best practice implementation.

  • Technical degree qualification
  • Fluent English
  • Legislative knowledge
  • Risk/Security Management knowledge/experience
  • ISO14001 knowledge/experience
  • OHSAS18001 knowledge/experience
  • Evidence of results/success
  • Environmental/Sustainability experience
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical/Budgeting/Forecasting skills
  • IT skills: Intermediate Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD and PowerPoint
